Bushwick is where it’s Basqui-at! Artists opened up for the weekend

Bushwick’s wildest and weirdest artists opened their doors to the world this weekend.

Bushwick Open Studios showcased the handiwork of neighborhood creators for the ninth year running, drawing thousands for three days of music, revelry, and most prominently, eye candy. Taking part in the Bushwick-wide art show is a relief from the pretension of the gallery world, one studio denizen said.

“It is so fun to participate and have people come see my work in a space that is not a gallery and just talk to me in a casual way,” said artist Amanda Gale, a sculptor who works with fabric, motors, and fake fur and shares a studio on Forrest Street with some of her friends.
