Got wood? Gwen Stefani certainly does. The No Doubt frontwoman has joined forces with 7 for All Mankind founder Michael Glasser to parlay her unique brand of laidback-chic into a line of elevated basics made with dissolved tree pulp. Due in stores this spring, the 18-piece DWP (that is, Design With Purpose) collection will revolve around a slouchy, tapered trouser derived from Tencel but treated and coated to resemble leather, brushed silk, or relaxed denim. For balance, the duo devised filmy tanks, motorcycle vests, and cropped tees—again in Tencel—as well as a jumpsuit and a dress.

DESIGN WITH PURPOSE

Another plus: DWP will be manufactured out of Glasser’s factory in Vernon, Calif., in the same production space as Rich and Skinny.

Stefani is certainly no fashion-industry neophyte. Both her L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers labels have been around for the better part of a decade, not to mention the myriad licensing deals she’s wrangled over the years with the likes of Burton, OPI, and Target.

DWP will be manufactured out of a factory in Vernon, Calif.

“What’s so great about DWP for me is it’s different from anything I’ve ever done, working in L.A. and having the factory right here,” Stefani told The Hollywood Reporter.”With L.A.M.B., we have so many categories within the collection and you have different factories that do specific things, so you are a little detached…The actual designs are very simple because it’s all about everyday wear. So that’s different and new.”
