Pinecone shaped sustainable wood lamps soften glare of energy-saving bulbs

Aiming to soften the harsh light of energy- and money-saving lightbulbs, Lübeck-based German company Schneid designed this lovely pendant lamp that was inspired by pinecones. Nicknamed Zappy, the lightweight lamp is made by hand with untreated, FSC-certified ash or oak wood panels that have been sourced from northern Germany.

The ash wood Zappy creates a brighter tone of light, while the oak veneer lamp is darker but more sophisticated looking.
