Ever year a crystalline palace rises proudly as a celebration of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival in upstate New York.
Here’s one way to get through this year’s freezing temperatures – build a massive castle out of ice. That is what the organizers of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival are doing in Upstate New York as part of annual tradition that dates back to 1987. Constructed out of crystalline blocks harvested from an on-site lake, the frozen palace represents 2014’s “Celtic Carnival” theme.
