Trolling Around

In contemporary society being a troll is your right and your duty.

Erasing a painting. Defacing a statue.Burning down an art show. Swearing in church. Smoking in a theater. Starting a fight during a live performance. Cutting the power at an Indie rock concert. God loves this shit so why shouldn’t we?

Being a troll today became a crime. Do Not troll around, you idiot! As if depressed kids with suicidal tendencies wouldn’t desire to feel the breeze of the void without their friends laughing at them. Suicide is selfish, like masturbation. I get it, but don’t blame it on trolls.

Freedom comes with a price and if that price is having trolls around, so be it! I love them. They make me laugh, like farts. I never heard a fart without laughing. That’s a fact. I’ve to be honest. I’ve been trolling around, but never as much as I’ve dreamt about. I’m shy. Even with a fake identity, I still think that someone knows that it’s me…

I like when I see a troll attitude toward historic or contemporary art. It’s the kind of comment that I want to see, especially when someone pretends to be seriously inspired or enlightened by a new aesthetic or some kind of “sturm und drang” feeling, and that is when I want to see my guys tackling the motherfucker.

Nothing steady in deep waters, my dear… Dead artists’ foundations, museum directors, living spouses and lame middle aged unmarried offspring hate trolls’ appropriation and sarcasm about their beloved art makers and try to discourage the phenomenon with lawsuits that they always lose (You are actually a lucky ‘artroll’ when you get one).

So, what I can tell you, let’s troll around, let’s play with memory and history. Culture is about time and ideas, and time sucks. Let’s create new mythological stories with our leftovers. Epic stories that overwrite the boring ones generated by fear and speculation.

In contemporary society being a troll is your right and your duty. This is not a postmodern commentary on cynicism and whateverness.

We do need new stories and we need viruses and bacteria that infect them because this is how life was generated in first place on this shitty planet, and this is how we can awake from our stoned zombie like state of mind. Fuck safety belts. We need to be able to imagine a future. An epic one.
