“I’m driven to show people the harsh realities,” says Pablo Unzueta (@unzueta_), a Los Angeles-based photographer who studies journalism at a local community college and works part time as a short order cook. “I just want to spotlight those who need more attention from the mainstream society.” The 20-year-old Chilean-American was introduced to photography by his grandmother. “She made her living as a wedding photographer, and whenever she could, my grandmother would travel to places like Ecuador, El Salvador and other parts of Central America documenting the immense poverty taking place,” he says. “My grandmother is an important influence. Those trips to her darkroom will never be forgotten.”

While traveling the globe for that unforgettable image, Maynard Switzer’s graphic use of color and composition enables him to capture every nuance of the human spirit and its environment.
Born in Los Angeles, Maynard received his early training at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and upon graduation apprenticed for the legendary Richard Avedon in New York City. He then went on to open his own studio specializing in beauty and fashion photography, working for a very diverse group of advertising, design and editorial clients. He recently broadened his creative horizons to pursue travel, portrait and documentary photography.
