911 Operator: What’s your emergency?
Caller: There was an assault.
Operator: What’s your location?
Caller: All over New York City…
Operator: Is this some sort of a joke? You do realize that it’s a felony to falsely report a crime. Is the person or persons who assaulted you still on the scene?
Caller: No, but my friends and I are critically injured with busted ribs; our clothing was torn, arms ripped off. There are parts everywhere I can’t begin to describe the carnage. We were all caught in a horrible downpour and then the winds came and there was no escaping the inevitable drumbeat of death that was lurking around every corner. Some bravely put up a fight, but our opponent overpowered us.
Operator: Were there any survivors?
Caller: A lucky few that made it home last night, I suppose, but most of us were left to die on the cold wet pavement of this wretched city with no regard or empathy. Some made it to stoops and corners to die; others were placed in trashcans with family members. One of us tried to flag down a car for help but was run over in the crosswalk… Can you please send someone to help us?
