One of this summer’s highly anticipated movies includes a cast of misfit characters directed by a fan favorite director. No, we’re not talking about Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Rather, Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom (though starEdward Norton did play an Avenger in 2008’sThe Incredible Hulk).

To help you get acquainted with this cast of misfits, the studio released character posters introducing Scout Master Ward (Norton), Captain Sharp (Bruce Willis), Walt Bishop (Bill Murray), Laura Bishop (Frances McDormand), Custodial Guardian (Tilda Swinton), Cousin Ben (Jason Schwartzman), and Commander Pierce (Harvey Keitel).

Just like Anderson’s other movies (The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou), Moonrise Kingdom has lots of dry humor and quirky charm. Here’s the movie’s synopsis:

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Willis plays the local sheriff. Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Murray and McDormand portray the young girl’s parents.
